Introducing The Stage Showcase & More (Updated 19/6)

Having been doing Summer Of Sonic for a while now we’ve begun getting requests from fans -  both in a professional and a casual respect – if they could appear during the show.

Now that was fine with us, so we arranged a segment this year which we began refering to as the “Showcase” where select members of the community can show off their talents.  Due to the simularities we’ve placed this as a follow on to the Wrecks Factor and I suspect it will be its replacement after this final year.

You already know one of the items to be shown in the showcase – this is where you’ll find us showing the new Sonic Shorts from Sonic Paradox.  However there’ll also be more comedy and music, speaking of the latter our first

Zonic (or Ziggy in the real world) came to our attention via the SOS Facebook group and her lyricalisations of classic SEGA Megadrive games tracks – specifically Sonic. Apart from these she also makes her own brand of ambient, electronica based pop and dance with influences from everything from Lady GaGa to Depeche Mode. Regularly appears at a variety of game, anime and manga events and is touring very soon all over the country. She’s even got an EP out on iTunes. There’s an example of her Sonic-related work below.

Whilst we’re here I should probably point out our first featured fan artist has also been added to the guest page. Go ahead and click the link, if you like that sort of thing.

19/6 Update: The second of each are now live on the Guests page in the form of Roareye Black and Syaming-Li – also, please keep your questions to the trio of Naka/Iizuka/Senoue coming in!!!

  2. avatar TRiPPY says:

On the same page as total LEGENDS.

    *bliss out*

    Thanks guys :)

  3. Will Ziggy be selling any copies of her music, more specifically the Sonic based tracks?

    • I’m afraid I wont be selling the sonic tracks as that would go against Sega’s copyright laws but I am selling signed hard copies of my own original CD. I will have a batch with me to sell at the event but if you would like to buy one before then send me a message on facebook and I can set you up with an order

      Cheers

      Zonic :)

  5. avatar Syaming Li says:

Oh mercy me. I’ve been announced! This is surreal! (Especially being on the same page as my lifelong idols, erp!)

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

@Ziggy Well it looks like your going after all XD have a good one

OT:looks like the update for the next sonic fans in the showcase is going to be a little late which is understandable (after all it’s only 4 days untill the big day) should be quite entertaining to say the least

Naka-san – Looking back on when you were making Sonic games. If you could have changed anything compared to how it turned out, be it the games programming, the way the games looked or maybe perhaps the franchise itself, what would it have been?

Iizuka-san – In this age of the internet, and conventions etc., do you feel it is now easier to communicate directly with the fan base?

Senoue-san – When composing music for the Sonic games, where do you generally get your inspiration from?

    • avatar Orengefox says:

Just for clarification, I wanted to post these questions in the “New Event: Sonic Team Community Q&A Panel/Signing” article. Unfortunately however, the article doesn’t allow for any more comments which is why I posted them here. I thought I’d have a go at asking some general questions to Naka-san, Iizuka-san and Senoue-san. I just hope I’m still the right place to ask such questions :)

      • avatar Dreadknux says:

Some brilliant questions – but sadly we can’t accept any more questions! You should have posted these earlier. D: Sorry!

        • avatar Orengefox says:

Yeah, I just noticed after you replied to me that the top of the article said it was closed for any more asked questions which makes sense now. Unfortunately I left the tab for that article running for a couple days which lead to the confusion. I didn’t realise the deadline was sooner than expected. Sorry about that. Hopefully there’s still an opportunity to ask any more questions while at the event :\
